Ukrainian AN-26 Aircraft Might Have Been Downed by Modern Russian Missile System - NSDC

Ukrainian transport aircraft An-26 could have been be hit from the Russian territory by a rocket launcher or air to air missile from the Russian aircraft.

This was stated by the National Security Council spokesman Andrii Lysenko, Censor.NET reports citing Gordonua.com.

"The plane was hit at 6,500 m. None of the anti-missile systems at the disposal of the terrorists could damage the plane at this height. AN-26 was damaged by another, more powerful weapon, probably from the territory of Russia," the NSDC speaker said.

Lysenko said that based on the data transmitted by Ukrainian pilots, two versions of the incident are being considered.

"A shot could have been made from a modern missile complex Pantsyr" (Shell) or air to air homing missile from a Russian aircraft that could take off from Millerovo airfield," the representative of the National Security Council stated.

The Council also confirmed that the crew of the aircraft managed to eject.
