Chubarov: Mejlis Will not Leave Crimea Despite Russian Invaders’ Terror Against Crimean Tatars

Leader of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov said this on air of Espreso.TV, Censor.NET reports.

"We cannot leave this land. We have been returning here for half a century. Our state was not able to protect us, but we are still patriots of Ukraine," Chubarov said.

He believes that if the Crimean Tatars abandon Crimea, it will only play into the Russian authorities' hands.

"If we remove our governmental bodies, the invaders will only be glad. This will mean that the Crimean Tatars are leaving Crimea. We will not do this, but it cannot last for years. We understand that it is not violence for the sake of violence - it is terror conducted to force the Crimean Tatars to leave their native land. We do not want and will not do this," Chubarov said.
