As reported by Censor.NET, the prosecutors proved in the Korets district court of the Rivne region that the suspect made attempts to recruit a Ukrainian military from March to October 2016 to collect sensitive and highly sensitive information and pass it to the Russian secret services.
A former officer of the Ukrainian Armed Forces was recruited in Moscow by a member of the Russian Army General Staff whom he got acquainted with while studying at a military high school. Pavlenko returned to Ukraine being tasked by his handler to collect information on the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ units operating in the anti-terrorist operation zone. Pavlenko tried to recruit a senior officer of an operations command. The officer informed the Security Service and the Russian agent was shortly detained while passing the documents.
