Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko spent at least $500,000 on his family vacation in the Maldives.
As reported by Censor.NET, journalists of Skhemy project (joint project of Radio Svoboda and UA:Pershyi TV channel) made public the cost of president’s vacation including flight, accommodation, and additional expenses in the investigative journalism piece titled Mr. Petro Incognito: the president's secret vacation.
The journalists found out that Poroshenko and his companions travelled to Male (the Maldives) by Falcon 7X - one of the most expensive business jets capable of making an eight-hour trip from Kyiv to the Maldives without refueling. Falcon jet with the tail number TC-KMR used by the head of state was leased by the Turkish Setair.
The airlines told journalists that a trip from Kyiv to Male, the capital city of the Maldives, and back will cost 154,000 euros with a plane being kept on the ground for seven days, or 119,000 euros if a jet simply delivers the passengers to the destination point and take them away later.
Using open sources, Skhemy found out that the jet was actually waiting for the passengers at the Male airport. Therefore, the jet rental likely cost the president about 154 000 euros. This option could be required in case the passengers urgently needed to return to Ukraine.
Reliable sources told journalists that Poroshenko spent his vacation in the Maldives-based Cheval Blanc Randheli five-star resort solely comprised of luxurious villas in the middle of the Indian Ocean.

The Ukrainian president and his guests spent here seven days and six nights.
Skhemy project found that the daily rent of the villa amounts to not less than $46,000. Thus, one would spend $276,000 only on accommodation for six nights.

Poroshenko also had additional expenses during vacation. The editorial team managed to establish that he spent $18,705 on diving, water activities, and boats in Cheval Blanc resort. Breakfasts cost him $10,791, lunches - $4,682, dinners - $3,165. Poroshenko spent a total of $37,550 (all in cash) on additional services.
As can be seen from the above, Ukraine’s president spent at least $ 500,000 just for a week off in the Maldives, which is more than 14 million hryvnia.

Presidential administration told journalists that it was just a "short" vacation: "This trip was paid with the declared funds from his own bank account which will be reflected in his e-declaration. The decision to make the information on these trips (He spent several days in Huta presidential retreat in the Ivano-Frankivsk region) public after the event was made in advance based on security considerations."
