PM Hroisman promises highest pensions for Ukrainian troops fighting in Donbas

Prime Minister Volodymyr Hroisman says all servicemen who took part in combat operations in the occupied Donbas will have considerable increase in pensions.
"We are going to submit the relevant bill and all those who deserve it will receive higher pension payments. I’d like to say that we highly respect and appreciate those fighting in the trenches today. They will have the highest pensions in the country along with the highest respect and enjoy the greatest privileges," he said at Q&A session in the parliament, Censor.NET reports.
Hroisman also said that there should be differentiation among the military pensioners.
"You must realize that there are those in who have never been in combat, never took part in actual battle. I’m talking about traffic police, officers of economic crime departments and we should not put them at the same level. If we pass this law in February or March, we will recalculate pensions retroactively as of Jan. 1. We will have enough funds for that," the PM said.
"The military pensioners require additional 43 billion hryvnia. Do you really want to increase the Pension Fund from 140 to 183 billion? We don’t want to bring to destruction the entire Pension Fund of the country, do we? Therefore, we need such a differentiation and fair approach. We have drafted our proposal taking into account the best practices of the National Security and Defense Council. We need to bring into accordance all military posts and pass the bill to the parliament," Hroisman said.
