Putin hates Poroshenko therefore no dialogue on political prisoners release possible between them, Mejlis deputy head says

Russian leader Vladimir Putin will not discuss the release of prisoners with incumbent president of Ukraine as he bears a personal grudge against Poroshenko.

Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People, Ahtem Chiygoz said on air of Channel 5, Censor.NET reports.

"Those who expect Putin to take such humane act must be delusional. There was also zero humanity when I and Umerov were released. It was all about exerting pressure while all pressure factors coincided. Erdogan, a man of character, was the one who initiated the process," Chiygoz recalled.

"They say Putin is not going to strike a deal with Poroshenko regarding exchange of political prisoners because he hates him, because he could not break him. But what prevents other world leaders - Macron, Merkel, Trump – from being tough and persuasive enough?" he said.

"We must continue to work in this direction and change their minds, attitudes (regarding the political prisoners’ issue). They should not assume that these talks and the issue of political prisoners are number five or six on their list. Any dialogue with this extremely sick and self-obsessed person must begin with these issues. He considers a concession the visits the leaders pay him. Therefore, pressure is the only way here," Mejlis deputy chairman said.
