Markarova appointed Ukraine's finance minister, MP Friz - Minister for Veterans' Affairs

As reported by Censor.NET citing UNIAN, none of the Opposition Bloc and Batkivschyna deputies supported the move, while only two members of the Radical Party faction and one Samopomich faction MP voted in its favor.
On June 7, the Cabinet of Ministers entrusted the duties of the acting minister of finance to Oksana Markarova, who from March 2015 occupied the position of Deputy Minister, and from April 2016 - First Deputy Minister of Finance. Before this, the Verkhovna Rada, on the proposal of Prime Minister Volodymyr Hroisman, dismissed Oleksandr Danyliuk from the post of Minister of Finance.
On Nov. 21, Hroisman submitted to the Verkhovna Rada a motion on Markarova's appointment as Minister of Finance. On the same day, Hroisman submitted a motion to appoint MP Iryna Friz Minister for Veterans' Affairs. On Thursday, the Verkhovna Rada also approved the submission and appointed Iryna Friz, MP from the Petro Poroshenko Bloc, to the position, at the same time depriving her of the MP mandate. None of the Opposition Bloc and Batkivshchyna deputies supported the appointment, while only 4 deputies from Samopomich voted in its favor.
As reported, on Feb. 27, 2018, the parliament adopted an appeal to the Cabinet of Ministers on the creation of the Ministry for Veterans' Affairs, the central executive body to ensure the formation and implementation of state policy in the field of social protection of war veterans. The Verkhovna Rada proposed that the government establish a Ministry for Veterans' Affairs on the basis of the State Service for War Veterans and Participants of the Anti-Terrorist Operation.
