Funds from customs clearance of cars registered abroad to be used for indexation of pensions, - Poroshenko

President Petro Poroshenko called on car owners with foreign registration to take advantage of the last days of the grace period for legalization of these vehicles. This will not only fill the Pension Fund budget directly, but also allow the indexation of pensions, the president emphasized.

Censor.NET reports citing the president’s press service.

"Why is it so important for me as the president? Because it is about replenishment of the Pension Fund. UAH 5 billion have already been transferred to the Pension Fund," Poroshenko said at a meeting regarding the law that allows the legalization of cars with European license plates imported in violation of customs and tax legislation.

Petro Poroshenko added that there were actually 11 days left until the end of the grace period for customs clearance of such cars.

The president said that the given indicator was much higher than what the experts had predicted when planning budget revenues. Specialists "were much more cautious and pessimistic in calculations of budget indicators".

"This allows us to resolve the issue of indexation of pensions that were not indexed in 2015-2016 due to such circumstances as war and budget cuts," the president argued.

Petro Poroshenko asked the prime minister of Ukraine and the head of the Pension Fund to make suggestions on indexation based on the available indicators.

The president also said that the issue of fines’ "doubling" must be regulated, as well as the reduction of the number of certificates required during the registration.

He also paid attention to the terminals where the cars should be kept at the time of registration, mentioning that the state terminals are free of charge.
