After suffering heavy losses, the enemy has not succeeded in blockading and capturing Kyiv, - General Staff
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine released operational information on the Russian invasion as of 24.00 on March 31.
According to Censor.NЕТ, this is stated by General Staff in Facebook.
The message states: "Thirty-six days of heroic resistance by the Ukrainian people to the Russian military invasion are coming to an end.
The enemy, having suffered significant losses in personnel and equipment, has not succeeded in blockading and capturing the city of Kyiv. The invaders were forced to temporarily abandon the given mission.
The enemy continues to reinforce troop groups with units from the Eastern Military District. It is attempting to form occupation administrations within the temporarily occupied areas of Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions.
In view of the above, in the near future, the enemy is probably going to try to maintain its military presence with combat operations in the southern and eastern regions of Ukraine.
There are no changes in the Volyn direction.
In the Polissya direction, the enemy is regrouping its forces. It has withdrawn up to five BTGr to the territory of the Republic of Belarus. Once the withdrawn units are restored to combat effectiveness, they are expected to be moved to other destinations.
On the Siversk direction, the occupiers are removing some troops under the cover of some units from the 1st Tank Army.
In the Slobozhansky direction, the enemy continues to blockade the city of Kharkiv, artillery shelling to destroy infrastructure and residential areas of the city. In the area to the south of Izium, the enemy is trying to break the resistance of Ukrainian defenders, push Defense Forces units out of their positions and continue the offensive in the direction of Slavyansk. There is no luck.
In the Donetsk direction the enemy did not conduct active offensive actions. The enemy concentrated on continuing the assault on Mariupol. It increased the grouping of the 58th Combined Arms Army by introducing into its ranks a BTGr created from displaced troops from the 7th military base (Abkhazia).
In the South Bug direction, the enemy attempted to launch offensives in the direction of the village of Oleksandrivka, Mykolaiv Region.
The grouping of defense forces continues to conduct a defense operation in the eastern, south-eastern and north-eastern directions.
The enemy is still being defeated by fire in the area of Izium, Kamianka and Tikhotske settlements in order to prevent its further advance in the direction of Slovyansk and Barvinkovo settlements.
Attempts by the enemy to bypass the positions of our troops in the areas of Popasna and Novotoshkovske were repulsed.
The forces of the 36th Independent Marines Brigade together with units of other components of Ukraine's Defense Forces hold the circular defense of the hero-city of Mariupol.
An enemy offensive near Marinka was repulsed.
A group of Kyiv defence forces and equipment continues to conduct strike and retrieval operations in the Zhytomyr and Nizhyn directions.
In other directions, a stabilization operation is being conducted and territorial defense tasks are being carried out.
The Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to successfully accomplish their tasks, pursue the retreating enemy, break through the occupier's defensive positions and gradually liberate Ukrainian lands.
