The United States of America is actively debating whether to apply the status of a state sponsor of terrorism to Russia.

This was reported by the Ambassador of Ukraine to the USA, Oksana Markarova, reports Censor.NET with reference to Radio Liberty.

"We are having a very active discussion, because there is a current status in the USA, which has already been approved by law, it is a ``country sponsor of terrorism,'' but it is a rather old status. Today it includes four countries, and of course we would like to see Russia among these countries, because it deserves to be in any company of such exiles. However, it is not a sponsor of terrorism, it is a terrorist country itself," the diplomat said.

Therefore, according to her, the USA is considering an alternative draft law, which proposes to give Russia a new status - an aggressor country that commits terror against the civilian population.

"There is another alternative draft law - it is an aggressor country that carries out terror against the civilian population. We hope that in these discussions we will come up with the strongest possible draft that will allow us to name it correctly and isolate Russia from the civilized world," the ambassador noted.
