The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valery Zaluzhny, had a telephone conversation with the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the United States, Mark Milley.

As Censor.NET informs about this with reference to the Facebook page of the Chief of the Armed Forces.

"He talked about the changes in the operational and strategic situation, primarily in the ground and air spaces of Ukraine. Heavy battles are being fought on the Svatove-Kreminna line, as well as in the direction of Lysychansk. The most difficult situation remains in the Soledar-Bakhmut-Mayorsk section. There, the enemy is literally dead tries to move forward, but units of the Defense Forces hold back the enemy offensive at the cost of overwhelming force.

In the Donetsk direction, we managed to hold positions around Avdiivka and continue counteroffensive actions. We are reliably holding defensive lines in the Zaporizhzhia direction and are making efforts to protect Kherson from enemy shelling, primarily peaceful residents and the city's critical infrastructure facilities. The situation on the border with the Republic of Belarus is fully under control," the message reads.

Zaluzhny reported that from December 31 until this morning, the enemy struck 14 cruise missiles and used 94 kamikaze drones of the "Shahed-136" type.

The interlocutors also discussed the needs of the Defense Forces of Ukraine to continue the fight against the aggressor.
