There is no question of the withdrawal of Ukrainian forces from Bakhmut, Donetsk region, the situation there is under control.
This was announced by the spokesman of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Andrii Kovalev, Censor.NET informs with reference to "Interfax-Ukraine".
"It's strange to leave Bakhmut now, when the situation is under control there. It is possible to repulse the Russian invaders," he said on the air of the telethon on Wednesday.
The speaker added that as long as there are basements in the city, there is an opportunity for the Ukrainian military to defend itself and hold the territory, they will remain there.
Kovalev noted that the Russian occupiers are now putting all their efforts into reaching the administrative borders of Donetsk region.
"And, apparently, this is the goal of the so-called SMO, which the occupiers talk about, so that Putin can at least show something to his electorate," he said.
