Duda on Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine: Nothing could have been done

Polish President Andrzej Duda believes that it was impossible to prevent Russia’s attack on Ukraine in February 2022.

He said this in an іnterview with TV host Nataliia Moseychuk, reports Censor.NЕТ.

"I'm afraid that nothing could have been done. In any case, nothing could have been done at the very moment when this war was actually about to begin. The Russians had been amassing military units for a long time. We had information that the number of troops exceeded 150,000 and was slowly approaching 200,000, concentrated around the borders of Ukraine. We were expecting some form of aggression to take place, and we were getting reports that indicated that Russia was going to carry out a full-scale aggression, that there would be an attempt to occupy the whole of Ukraine," he said.

Duda noted that European leaders had talked to Russian President Vladimir Putin to prevent the outbreak of war, but it was clear that aggression was inevitable.

"Everyone somewhere had a quiet hope that Russia would not carry out this attack. But we all know very well what happened on February 24," he said.
