Russian command wants to encircle Avdiivka, but enemy in this direction is quite exhausted, - Defense Forces

авдіївка

The Russian command is focused on capturing Avdiivka. They don’t need the city itself, but the enemy wants to localize the Ukrainian Defense Forces stationed there.

This was reported by the speaker of the joint press center of the Defense Forces of the Tavriisk region, Colonel Oleksii Dmytrashkivsky, on the air of the telethon, Censor.NET informs with reference to RBC-Ukraine.

So, during the past day, the enemy tried 21 times to attack the positions in the area of Avdiivka and Mariinka, but to no avail.

"They did not succeed on any of the battle lines. At night, the enemy stopped attacking altogether. This is probably due to the numerous losses," Dmytrashkivsky says.

According to him, only yesterday the enemy lost about two companies of personnel killed and wounded.

"Instead, it became known that in the area of Avdiivka and Mariinka, a Russian special forces unit of the 98th Airborne Assault Brigade was added to the unit of the 155th Marine Brigade of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. This is a kind of reinforcement, but the morale and psychological state of this unit is zero Because it is not known what this special unit will be able to do," said Dmytrashkivsky.

He noted that in the Avdiiv direction, Russian troops tried to attack quite strongly two weeks ago, but suffered rather significant losses in manpower and equipment.

"Accordingly, they need time to recover. The unit of the 98th brigade, as you know, is one of the last reserves of combat-ready troops in this direction," said Dmytrashkivskyi.

He added that the enemy has somewhat reduced its activity in this direction, and there is an accumulation of forces and means of the Russian Federation.

"But for the Russian military pensioners, who are in the Kremlin, their main idea is to capture Avdiivka. They don't need the city itself, but they need to localize all the defense forces that are in this city. So far, all these attempts are in vain, and actually, we expect what will happen next. But considering everything, it is noticeable that the enemy is already quite exhausted," concluded Dmytrashkivsky.
