War in Ukraine will be one of main topics of global "Summit for Democracy" - US State Department

The need to end the war in Ukraine and restore world order will be one of the main topics of discussion at the "Summit for Democracy", which will be held this week by the Biden administration.
This was stated by Deputy Spokesperson for the US State Department Vedant Patel, reports Censor.NЕТ with reference to Ukrinform.
"Of course, Russia's brutal attack on Ukraine will no doubt be a topic of discussion. I am sure of that," Mr. Patel said.
He emphasized that Russia's war in Ukraine has underscored the importance of adhering to a rules-based order, as well as the UN Charter and the principles of territorial integrity and sovereignty.
In addition, according to Patel, the summit participants will discuss other topics related to the future of democracy both in the United States and in the global context.
"The defining question of this era is whether democracies will continue to benefit their people in the world," the US State Department official said.
As reported, this year's Summit for Democracy will be held on March 28-30. It is expected that this event will focus on promoting human rights and democracy as the main directions of the current US Administration's foreign policy.
