In the city of Almaty in Kazakhstan, the police detained about a dozen people at the place of the announced rally in support of Ukraine. The reason for the detention was not explained.

This is reported by Censor.NET with reference to "Radio Azattik" - the Kazakh service of "Radio Freedom",

In various cities of Kazakhstan, public activists announced peaceful rallies in support of Ukraine and with a call for Kazakhstan's withdrawal from the CSTO, an alliance chaired by Russia. Also, some of the activists held placards against the visa regime with China, others demanded an investigation into the deaths of people during mass protests in early 2022.

Activists applied for a rally to local executive authorities, but were refused due to allegedly "incomplete information" about the events.

Currently, it is known about the detention in Astana of a member of the unregistered party "Alga, Kazakhstan" Marat Zhilanbayev, activist Elvira Bekzadina and journalist Duman Muhamedkarim in Almaty.
