Ukraine’s exceptional awareness of weapons possessed by Western states put allies in dead end and prevented them from getting out, - Melnyk

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Melnyk said that Ukrainian diplomats knew about the amount of weapons in the warehouses of the German army "no worse" than the German defense ministers.

This awareness helped him obtain Western weapons during his work as ambassador to Germany, he told RBC-Ukraine, Censor.NET reports.

Melnyk recalls how on February 26, 2022, Germany made an "epochal" decision to transfer 500 portable Stinger anti-aircraft systems and 1,000 Panzerfaust anti-tank missiles to Ukraine.

Then German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht told him that Ukraine had been given "everything they could."

"I was really shocked. How is this? After all, we had our data from insiders in the Bundeswehr, as well as in the ranks of the CDU party, whose representatives headed the defense department in previous years," he said.

Melnyk noted that Ukrainian diplomats knew what and where the Bundeswehr was "no worse" than former Minister Lambrecht or current Minister Boris Pistorius.

It is noted that Ukraine's "exceptional awareness" of the weapons possessed by Western states and their storage locations often "stuck" the allies. This did not allow them to "get away" with regard to military aid to Ukraine.
