Decision on 11th package of EU sanctions against Russian Federation has been postponed until next week, - Mass media

The decision on the eleventh package of EU sanctions against Russia has been postponed until next week. The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 24.
As reported by Censor.NET, Polish Radio writes about it.
The correspondent of the publication notes that next week there is a chance for a compromise. The 11th package focuses primarily on combating the circumvention of the restrictions introduced so far and filling the gaps.
"Many discussions were caused by the proposal to introduce sanctions against non-EU countries that bypass European restrictions. Some member states, led by Germany, expressed doubts and warned against restricting trade, for example, with China. Therefore, the initial proposal of the European Commission was weakened.
It will be more difficult to penalize countries, as the amended provisions refer to finding other solutions, such as imposing sanctions on specific companies or individuals. The latest package also includes a proposal to impose sanctions against eight Chinese military companies for the first time.
Greece, Cyprus, and Malta have said they need more time to thoroughly study the proposed ban on European vessels that violate sanctions on the transportation of Russian oil," the newspaper writes.
