Ukraine, not third party, will decide how and when to end war - US State Department on China’s role as mediator
The people of Ukraine should independently decide how and when this war will end, not, for example, China.
This was stated by US Deputy Secretary of State Richard Verma in response to a question about China's peacekeeping efforts in an interview with Ukrinform, Censor.NET reports.
"I cannot speak about China's position. However, I would like all countries to oppose aggression. I would like all countries to support Ukraine's needs for reconstruction. These needs exist today. And in the end, the people of Ukraine must make their own decisions about how and when this conflict will be stopped. It will not be decided by an outside force," Verma emphasized.
It will be recalled that on May 16-17, the special representative of the government of the People's Republic of China Li Hui visited Ukraine and met with the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba.
After his visit, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said that China is ready to "assist the international community in forming the largest common denominator for the settlement" of the Russian Federation's war against Ukraine.
