That night, during the mass attack of the Russian "Shahed" on the capital, aviation was involved in shooting down the UAV. Unfortunately, so far our MiG-29 and Su-27 cannot guarantee 100th protection.

This was stated by the spokesman of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Yurii Ihnat, on the air of "Kyiv 24", Censor.NET informs with reference to RBC-Ukraine.

"The aviation that we involve in shooting down, in particular, UAVs, is not as effective as we would like it to be. If we had an F-16, of course this aircraft with its powerful radar and weapons could 100% implement its task is in heaven," explained Ignat.

According to the spokesman of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the pilots are at all operational airfields in Ukraine. At the same time, aviation can be used in those areas, which, for example, contain less air defense equipment.

"Air defense is working in one place, mobile groups are in another. Fighters can work in those areas where there are fewer air defense assets. They can quickly take off, react quickly and destroy UAVs," the spokesman explained.

According to the Air Force, air defense forces destroyed 52 Shaheds. For the attack on Ukraine, which Russia carried out on the night of May 28, the enemy changed tactics. The occupiers used unusual routes to launch kamikaze drones.

As reported by KCMA, on the night of May 28, more than 40 drones were shot down in the sky over Kyiv. Previously, this was the most massive drone attack on the capital since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, namely, the "Shahed" barrage of ammunition. There is damage and destruction in various districts of Kyiv, one person died.

Censor.NET also wrote that as a result of the night drone attack in Zhytomyr, there is damage. There are no victims. Later, it turned out that the enemy had hit an infrastructure object in the Zhytomyr region.
