Closed bomb shelter in Desniansky district is crime: Kyiv police have started criminal proceedings, - Klymenko. VIDEO

Kyiv police opened a criminal investigation into the denial of access to a shelter during an air raid alert.

This was reported on Facebook by Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko, Censor.NET reports.

"This is the 16th month of the full-scale war. It would seem that during this time, responsible officials should have identified and corrected all the shortcomings in the issue of human security. The enemy continues the large-scale shelling of cities. However, some shelters still remain closed during the air raid alert. Today, three people died in Kyiv - two women and a 9-year-old girl who tried to get into a closed bomb shelter," he reminded.

According to Klymenko, closing bomb shelters during the war is not just indifference. It is a crime. The Kyiv police have already initiated criminal proceedings over this fact under Part 2 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - official negligence that caused grave consequences.

"As part of the investigation, we will find and bring to justice all those responsible. In addition, the State Emergency Service, together with the National Police, will regularly inspect the accessibility and condition of bomb shelters in all settlements of the country. Shelters must be open around the clock. This is a matter of people's lives. No exaggeration" summarises Klymenko.

According to the Kyiv police, three people were killed in the rocket attack on the capital, including a mother and daughter. Later it turned out that they were trying to get into a bomb shelter when the debris fell. According to Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klitschko, specialists from the Department of Municipal Security went to the polyclinic in the Desnianskyi district and are investigating why there was no access to the shelter in the clinic.

According to the General Staff, on the night of 1 June, air defense forces destroyed 10 missiles fired by Russia at civilian and critical infrastructure in the Kyiv region.

The Air Force clarified that 7 Iskander-M ballistic missiles and 3 "Iskander-K" cruise missiles were destroyed.
