According to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark Milley, Ukraine is very well prepared for a counter-offensive, but it is too early to make any predictions.

He said this in a commentary to CNN, Censor.NET reports.

Speaking about the expected counter-offensive by the Ukrainian armed forces, Milley said that Ukraine was "very well prepared" for it, but it was "too early to tell the results".

"Ukraine is fighting a war that threatens its very existence as a country, and it is of great importance to the rest of the world - to Europe, indeed to the United States, and to the entire globe," Milley said.

At the same time, he warned that the incursions into Russia's Belgorod region by Russian volunteer units could lead to an escalation of the war, and the United States is watching this "very, very closely".

Earlier, US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said that "the United States believes in the success of Ukraine's counter-offensive".
