Head of SSU Maliuk on blowing up of Kakhovka HPP: We must bring to justice not only top of Putin regime, but also ordinary executors
The Security Service of Ukraine has opened criminal proceedings on the fact of undermining the Kakhovka HPP dam.
This is reported by Censor.NET with reference to the press center of the SSU.
As noted, the investigation was initiated under two articles of the Criminal Code:
- Art. 438 (violation of the laws and customs of war)
- Art. 441 (ecocide).
"By blowing up the dam of the Kakhovka HPP, the Russian Federation finally proved that it is a threat to the entire civilized world. After all, only a real terrorist state can arrange a man-made and ecological catastrophe of this level.
And she will definitely answer for it - both on the battlefield and in international courts. Our task is to bring to justice not only the top of Putin's regime but also ordinary perpetrators of crimes," emphasized the head of the SSU, Vasyl Maliuk.
Currently, investigators of the Security Service, together with employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Office of the Prosecutor General, are conducting primary investigative and procedural actions in the Kherson region.
Separately, the SSU together with representatives of the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources are establishing the detailed circumstances of the enemy's detonation of the dam.
It is also recalled that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, SSU investigators have opened more than 40,000 criminal proceedings based on the facts of violations of Russian laws and customs of war.
As Censor.NET reported, on the morning of 6 June, it became known that the Russian occupiers had blown up the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station. According to the Kherson Regional State Administration, the water will reach a critical level in 5 hours after the explosion. Evacuations have begun in the region. Nova Kakhovka is already being flooded. The Korabel district of Kherson is without power, and the gas supply will be cut off in a few hours. National Police and SES units have been put on alert in the Kherson region.
President Volodymyr Zelensky initiated an emergency meeting of the National Security and Defence Council due to the bombing.
According to Energoatom, the racist bombing of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station could have negative consequences for ZNPP, but the situation is under control.
According to Ukrhydroenergo, Kakhovka HPP was completely destroyed as a result of an explosion in the engine room from the inside. The plant is beyond repair. The Prosecutor General's Office opened a criminal investigation into the explosion of the Kakhovka HPP under the article on ecocide.
