For two weeks, Russians have not been able to knock out group of 70 soldiers of Armed Forces of Ukraine from under Antonivsky bridge, - ISW

The Russian military has been unable to dislodge a small group of Ukrainian soldiers from their fortified positions under the eastern span of the Antonivsky Bridge for almost two weeks.

This is stated in the report of the American Institute for the Study of War, Censor.NET reports.

The ISW notes that this is why the Russian military leadership is being harshly criticized by the so-called "war correspondents".

"For almost two weeks now, Russian bloggers have been complaining that Russian troops have failed to dislodge a very small Ukrainian force - reportedly up to 70 people - from their fortified positions under the eastern span of the Antonivsky Bridge," the statement said.

Bloggers complained that the Russian military command "blindly" ordered Russian troops to retake the area under the Antonivsky Bridge span on the eastern bank. This resulted in significant losses among Russian personnel and armored vehicles due to Ukrainian artillery fire and remote mining.

Russian military bloggers called for "precision" strikes on both spans of the bridge on each side of the Dnipro River. On 30 June, Russians hit the span of the eastern bank of the Antonivskyi Bridge with an Iskander ballistic missile. The result is still unclear.

"Some military bloggers claimed that the strike damaged the span of a standing bridge enough to prevent Ukrainian forces from using it as cover, while others complained that the strike only partially damaged the bridge and that Russian infantry had renewed attempts to clear Ukrainian positions elsewhere in the region," ISW said.
