This was stated by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on Friday at a press conference on the eve of the Alliance summit in Vilnius, Censor.NET writes with reference to the European Pravda.

"At the summit, we will take further important steps to strengthen our deterrence and defense. With the help of three new regional defense plans, to counter the two main threats to our Alliance: Russia and terrorism," Stoltenberg said.

According to him, one plan will be adopted for the north, the Atlantic, and the European Arctic, the second - for Central Europe, including the Baltic region, the third - for the south for the Mediterranean and the Black Sea.

"To implement these plans, NATO is putting 300,000 military personnel on high alert, including significant air and naval forces," Stoltenberg noted.

He also expects the leaders to adopt the Defense Production Development Action Plan aimed at increasing demand and capacity building.

"For this we need to invest more. At the summit, the members of the Alliance will undertake a more ambitious commitment to invest in defense at least 2% of the gross domestic product annually," he added.
