President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says he does not want to go to the NATO summit in Vilnius "for fun" and expects Ukraine to receive an invitation to join the Alliance and security guarantees for the period when it is not a member.

As informs Censor.NЕТ with reference to UP, Zelensky said this in an interview with ABC news

The President emphasized that the NATO summit is very important, and "it is a matter of political will to find the right wording and invite Ukraine."

"This will be an important message - that NATO is not afraid of Russia. Ukraine should receive clear security guarantees while it is not in NATO. This is very important. Only under these conditions will our meeting make sense. Otherwise, it is just another politics," Zelensky said.

To the host's remark: "It sounds like you're unlikely to go," the President smiled and replied: "Why? I think we will do a lot of work."

"We are working with our partners on security guarantees, we are working to help our partners draw certain conclusions on the eve of the NATO summit. And we would like all decisions to be made during the summit. In this case, obviously, I will be there and I will do everything to speed up this decision in order to have an agreement with our partners. I don't want to go to Vilnius for fun," Zelenskyy emphasized.
