The SBU and the State Bureau of Investigation searched the home of Yurii Aristov, a member of the Servant of the People party and deputy chairman of the Verkhovna Rada’s National Security Committee, who was on holiday in the Maldives under the guise of a "business trip".

This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the press centre of the SSU.

As noted, the Security Service and the State Bureau of Investigation are conducting investigative actions against the current MP of Ukraine, who, despite the ban on officials travelling abroad during the war, went on holiday to the islands in the Indian Ocean.

"The criminal proceedings are related to the current Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defence and Intelligence.

It has been established that in mid-July this year, the deputy was staying in a hotel on the island of Ithaafushi in the Maldives," the statement said.

According to preliminary data, to illegally leave Ukraine, false information was entered into official documents for travelling abroad, in particular, regarding the duration, purpose and country of the deputy's "business trip".

It has now been confirmed that in July this year, the deputy went on a working visit to a neighbouring European country for three days.

There, on 10 July, he remotely opened a sick leave in one of the private medical institutions in Kyiv until 19 July 2023 inclusive. At the same time, inaccurate information was entered into the electronic healthcare system, as no medical examination was actually carried out.

It was also found that the deputy, together with his family - his wife and children - stayed in the territory of the Republic of Maldives, at the Waldorf Astoria Maldives hotel complex, until 22 July.

During the searches of the MP's residence, the SSU found the deputy's passport, which contained stamps of travel to the Maldives.

The investigation is ongoing in the framework of the criminal proceedings initiated by the Prosecutor General under Part 1 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (forgery) to establish all the circumstances of the crime and bring the perpetrators to justice.

In addition, the Security Service checks the MP's contacts during his/her stay abroad. It also checks information on possible trips of other deputies and officials abroad for holidays during the war.

If such facts are found, each of them will be given the appropriate legal qualification, and those responsible for violating the current legislation will be brought to justice.

Complex measures are carried out by the Security Service jointly with the SBI under the procedural guidance of the Prosecutor General's Office.

Earlier, the media reported that Aristov, deputy chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security and a "servant of the people", was spotted in the Maldives.

The head of the Servant of the People faction, David Arakhamia, initiated the immediate suspension of Aristov's membership in the Servant of the People faction. Subsequently, Aristov wrote a letter of resignation from his position as an MP.
