Ukraine is focused on obtaining four types of aircraft from international partners.
This was announced by the spokesman of the President of Ukraine, Serhiy Nikiforov, on the air of the nationwide telethon "Yedini Novyny", Censor.NET reports, with reference to Ukrinform.
"We are focused really on the F-16, the reason being that they have been produced the most and are mathematically easier to get. But we are not only focused on them. We have, let's say, a list of four types of aircraft in order of desirability of obtaining them: F-16, Gripen, French Rafale and Eurofighter Typhoon," Nikiforov said.
He added that the Gripen aircraft is a good alternative.
"It is universal, it is less demanding, and it has demonstrated itself very well. Ukrainian pilots are currently being tested on this type of aircraft, and the feedback is very good," said the President's spokesman.
According to him, in order to talk about obtaining this type of aircraft, it is necessary to take three steps: testing of the aircraft and the capabilities of Ukrainian pilots, which is currently underway, training, political consent and only then providing this equipment.
"For now, this is a theoretical possibility. Let's see what can be done," Nikiforov said.
