Reforms that ensure transparency and accountability are needed to ensure that Ukraine’s recovery is in line with international best practices and that the US will invest.

This was stated by the US Special Representative for Ukraine's Economic Recovery Penny Pritzker, Censor.NET reports citing Reuters.

According to her, American private companies would like to invest in Ukrainian energy, housing, infrastructure, agriculture, transport, and mining, but for this, Ukraine must implement reforms aimed at improving accountability and transparency to make such investments safe.

"The key challenge is to ensure that the recovery is in line with international best practice, and this includes reforms that ensure transparency and accountability. Thus, reform and reconstruction go hand in hand and need to start now, even in the face of ongoing war and fighting," Pritzker said.

She added that Ukraine's potential is "enormous". Pritzker mentioned such sectors as agriculture, energy, metallurgy and mining, and the extraction of key minerals.

According to the US Special Representative, since her appointment, she has met with 30 private companies willing to participate in Ukraine's reconstruction.

"Everyone sees the opportunities, and I have been really impressed with the interest of the private sector in Ukraine," she added.

At the same time, Pritzker stressed that Ukraine needs to amend legislation and establish a partnership between the government and the private sector.
