According to FT analysts, even a temporary pause in aid from the US can affect Ukraine’s military strategy, stopping a counteroffensive. It could also allow Russia to regain its combat capability.
Financial Times writes about it, Censor.NET reports.
"According to analysts, even a temporary pause in the provision of US support could start to affect Kyiv's military strategy and tactics in a few weeks, potentially stopping Ukraine's counteroffensive, reducing pressure on Russian troops, and giving them the opportunity to restore their combat capability," the publication notes.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's appearance at a NATO meeting on Wednesday to ask for more weapons for Ukraine "confirms Kyiv's concern about declining support from allies due to Republican opposition in Washington and the distraction of Israel's war against Hamas."
The FT notes that the US played a "vital role" in quickly supplying Ukraine with modern weapons, including artillery ammunition and anti-aircraft defenses. At the same time, the administration of US President Joe Biden has promised to support Ukraine as long as necessary.
"Broad bipartisan support, except a small but powerful bloc of dissidents in Congress, is expected to eventually speed up the delivery of aid. But even a few weeks of delay could affect the counteroffensive," the FT said.
