If partners stop external financing of Ukraine, there will be two ways out - cutting costs or printing money, - "Servant of people" Hetmantsev
In the event of the termination of external funding, Ukraine will have two options: severe spending cuts or starting a "printing press" with money.
The head of the financial committee of the Verkhovna Rada, People's Deputy from "Servant of the People" Danylo Hetmantsev said this in an interview with Ukrainian News, Censor.NET reports.
According to him, the sentiments of "everything is fine" and "almost peace" began to prevail in Ukrainian society, especially in large cities.
"Everyone has seen the investigation into the curfew work of the Boho institution. It's as if there is no war, that is, the war is not felt, everything is fine, there will be money, the army will fulfill its function, everything will be fine," he said.
But in reality, the situation with state finances is bad, Hetmantsev warned. Even the needs of security and defense in 2024 will not be able to be covered by the state with taxes. "We need to borrow for this, not to mention all other non-military expenditure items," he said.
Therefore, war fatigue in Western countries, which help Ukraine with money, is a great danger.
"And we feel fatigued from the political processes that we see in foreign countries, and, unfortunately, we feel it from the general opinion of the voters, for example, in Slovakia," said the deputy.
"If we don't find money from them, we don't have many options, and they are all very bad. This is a sequester, that is, we will be forced to cut everything we can. And the second is emission, which is also a tax on the poor, in our case on everyone, because our population does not get richer during the war. We have bad and very bad scenarios," the deputy warned.
