Europeans know what Ukraine is fighting for. We can’t afford to be tired, because it’s about Europe’s security, - Metsola

Europeans know what Ukraine is fighting for. Therefore, the support of the European Union for Ukraine is unwavering.
According to Censor.NET, citing Ukrinform, this was stated by the President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola during a speech to EU ambassadors in Brussels.
"We see that Ukraine is suffering from Russian criminal aggression... We know what the stakes are (in this war - Ed.). Millions of Europeans know this from their own experience. They know exactly what Ukraine is fighting for. So when we say that our support for Ukraine is unwavering, we mean it. We cannot allow any signs of fatigue, because it is about the security of Europe as much as it is about security for Ukraine," Metsola stressed.
She noted that the EU should strengthen its role on the world stage. According to her, Europe is a project of freedom, peace and reunification that matters to the whole world.
"In Europe, we need to think more about ourselves as a continental player. This will allow us to speak on equal terms with other global players. However, this requires a change in our thinking," Metsola added.
The President of the European Parliament stressed the importance of building new constructive relations with the countries of Africa and Latin America, noting that the EP will actively promote parliamentary diplomacy, which already covers more than 160 countries. The intensity of this work, according to Metsola, has increased since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Parliamentarians can work together to solve common problems, such as climate change, digital development, artificial intelligence, etc.
"In today's geopolitical environment, we see food, energy, migration, information being turned into weapons, and we see interference in our democratic processes. In these circumstances, speaking with one voice is not only necessary, but vital. Without European unity, the EU's influence in the world may weaken... So we have to break down false narratives and form common positions in foreign relations," the President of the European Parliament stressed.
