Death of Zaluzhnyi’s assistant Chastiakov: more than ten witnesses gave evidence - SBI

In the case of the death of the assistant to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valerii Zaluzhnyi, Hennadii Chatiakov, more than 10 people are witnesses, they have already given evidence.

This was reported by the State Bureau of Investigation's communications adviser Tetiana Sapian on Radio Svoboda, Censor.NET reports.

According to her, these are people who work where Chastiakov was given a gift, and those who were at home at the time of the explosion.

Sapian noted that the SBI plans to appeal against the court's decision not to impose a preventive measure on the officer suspected in the case, who gave the grenades to Chastiakov.

"A measure of restraint was chosen yesterday, but the court decided not to impose a preventive measure. But now the prosecutor's office and SBI investigators are preparing materials to appeal the court's decision. This is also important. He continues to be a suspect," she clarified.

Earlier it was reported that Chastiakov was killed as a result of an unknown explosive device. This information was confirmed by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valerii Zaluzhnyi.

According to the National Police of Ukraine, the tragedy occurred in a residential complex in the village of Chaiky in Kyiv region. After receiving a report of an explosion, the police immediately arrived at the scene.

According to preliminary information, a 39-year-old serviceman was killed by a grenade. His 13-year-old son was seriously injured. The boy is under medical supervision.
