The cost of restoring Ukraine, according to preliminary estimates, will amount to more than $400 billion.

This was stated by the UN Assistant Secretary-General for Europe, Central Asia, and America Myroslav Yencha at the meeting of the UN Security Council, Censor.NET reports with reference to Ukrinform.

This year's winter response plan, developed by the UN and its partners in cooperation with the Ukrainian authorities, is being actively implemented, Yencha said.

According to his data, about 360,000 people received help for the winter. However, another $435 million is needed to deliver materials to repair homes, purchase winter clothing, heating devices, fuel, and repair centralized water supply and heating systems for 1.7 million people.

Constant contributions are also needed for the implementation of the humanitarian response plan for Ukraine for 2023, which is only 54% funded so far, Yencha added.

This year, UN agencies provided humanitarian aid to more than 10 million people. "We aim to reach 11 million by the end of 2023," he added.

"We are also concerned about the disregard of international law in the regions of Ukraine that are currently under Russian control," he emphasized, explaining that the occupation authorities hold "so-called elections, appoint Russian judges and apply Russian legislation, even retroactively," imposing Russian citizenship, resorts to arbitrary detention and torture of people.

"Against the background of global challenges and crises, the international community must maintain its attention to Ukraine and put an end to the suffering caused by this war," Yencha emphasized.
