At summit in Beijing, EU intends to call on China to use its influence on Russia to stop war against Ukraine
At the China-EU summit to be held on 7-8 December in Beijing, EU leaders intend to urge China’s leadership to use its influence on Russia to end the war it is waging against Ukraine.
According to Censor.NET, citing Interfax-Ukraine, a senior European diplomat told reporters in Brussels on Monday on the eve of the summit.
Speaking about the agenda of the summit, he noted that one of the main geopolitical issues in the field of global security that EU leaders intend to raise will be the war of aggression waged by Russia against Ukraine.
"This will be our priority. We need China to use its influence on Russia to stop the war. We are also looking at sanctions circumvention, we need to ensure that China does not help Russia. We also need China to engage with Ukrainians on President Zelensky's Peace Formula," he said.
The diplomat also said that President Charles Michel will also raise the issue of China's possible influence on North Korea, which supplies Russia with weapons.
