United States imposes sanctions on individuals and organisations associated with Lukashenko regime

The United States government has announced sanctions against nearly two dozen individuals and organisations in Belarus involved in the ruling regime’s suppression of civil society, corruption, and Russia’s war against Ukraine.
This is stated in the official report of the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the US Department of the Treasury, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrinform.
"Today, OFAC is imposing sanctions on 11 organisations and seven individuals," the statement said.
It is emphasised that the restrictions are imposed to increase pressure on the authoritarian regime of Alexander Lukashenko "because of his brutal suppression of democratic civil society in Belarus, corrupt financial enrichment of his family and complicity in Russia's unjustified war against Ukraine".
