U.S. Department of Justice indicted four Russian military personnel for war crimes

The US Department of Justice has indicted four Russian military personnel for war crimes against a US citizen living in Ukraine during Russia’s full-scale invasion.
The announcement was made by US Attorney General Merrick Garland, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrinform.
"Today, war crimes charges were announced in the Eastern District of Virginia against four Russian-affiliated military personnel. The charges include torture, inhuman treatment and unlawful imprisonment of a US citizen in Ukraine after Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine began in February 2022," the US Department of Justice said in a statement.
According to court documents filed in a Virginia federal court, four Russian soldiers abducted the American from his home in the village of Milove, beat and tortured him for 10 days in April 2022. Among other things, the American was stripped naked, his hands were tied behind his back, and he was beaten with his fists, feet, and rifle butts.
This case is the first time the US government has used the law to prosecute those who commit war crimes against American citizens abroad.
