The key topic of the January 10 meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council will be the strengthening of Ukraine’s air and missile defense systems.

Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, Head of the Ukrainian delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly Yehor Cherniev said this in a commentary to Ukrinform, Censor.NET reports.

"The key topic of the NATO-Ukraine Council meeting will be the strengthening of our air and missile defense after the recent massive shelling. In the course of repelling the attack, we had to use up a considerable amount of anti-missiles, and this arsenal needs to be replenished," he said.

Cherniev noted that it sometimes takes several anti-missiles to shoot down a single Russian missile, especially in the face of massive shelling. Therefore, according to him, Ukraine needs thousands of anti-missiles to effectively defend Ukrainian cities from the air.

"In addition, we need additional installations, including Patriot systems, to protect our cities from ballistic missiles. This problem is urgent and immediate, and that is why the meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council was convened so quickly. We hope for positive results," summarized the head of the Ukrainian delegation to the NATO PA.

As reported, a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council at the ambassadorial level will be held on January 10 to discuss the Russian Federation's air attacks on Ukrainian cities.
