US will not support Ukraine’s military funding at level of 2022-2023, - State Department

The United States will not support Ukraine’s military funding at the 2022-2023 level as it seeks to help the country build its own military-industrial base. Washington’s goal is to help Kyiv "get back on its feet" so that the country can finance, produce, and purchase weapons on its own.

This was stated by US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller at a briefing, Censor.NET reports citing the EP.

"We will continue to support Ukraine... as long as it takes. This does not mean that we will continue to support them at the same level of military funding as in 2022 and 2023," he said.

According to him, the United States does not believe that there is a need to continue support at the previous level, as Washington's goal is to help Kyiv get back on its feet and build its own military-industrial base so that Ukraine can finance, produce and purchase weapons on its own.

"But we're not there yet, and that's why it's so important that Congress passes the supplemental funding bill because we're not at the point where Ukraine can defend itself on its own," Miller said.
