Zelenskyy: Putin will not rest easy in this world or next
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the Ukrainian people will never forgive dictator Putin and his entourage for waging war against Ukraine.
He said this during a conversation with participants of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrinform.
"First of all, the Ukrainian people will never forgive Putin and his entourage and all those who sponsored all this terrorism, who took the lives of our people, our children, time... Talking about some kind of forgiveness, or as they say, "time plays in Putin's favour", and that people in Ukraine will forget, is not true. He will not rest in peace in this world or the next. Neither will his children nor his grandchildren. Yes, we are not terrorists, and therefore there will be criminal and judicial proceedings, and there will definitely be responsibility. There must be responsibility. Because after this terror, there will be others, repeated ones. Autocracy and aggression mean that it is possible if there are no consequences. Therefore, no one will forgive any of the killers," the president said.
At the same time, Zelenskyy said, it is not revenge that supports the morale of Ukrainians.
"You cannot compare revenge and justice. I am talking about justice now. Not revenge. And justice must be in the sentences, in the sentences and in the specific people who are sentenced, in specific years and in specific places where they must spend a long, I believe in justice, a long, many years of "vacation". It is a question of justice. Morale keeps the Ukrainians' desire to be free, to stand for freedom, for people's rights, and for their choices: how you want to live, whom you want to choose, whom you want to love, where you want to rest. It is for this choice, for freedom, that the Ukrainian people are fighting. It is fighting absolutely bravely, strongly, and I believe that it is fighting for our common values," the Head of State explained.
According to him, "it is difficult to understand the value of these values when you do not have a war".
"That is why your support is so important. It is so important that civilised people understand this price even before a disaster can happen. And if we all understand this, we will unite in helping Ukraine and in the political isolation of Putin. And if we do this, it will be the right political preventive steps to ensure that the war does not pass through Ukraine and does not come to other countries. And this is exactly what Putin wants," Zelenskyy concluded.
