Latvia seeks to facilitate Ukraine’s path to EU accession talks, says parliamentary speaker Mierinā

The Speaker of the Latvian Parliament, Daiga Mierina, said that her country has ambitions to make Ukraine’s path to EU accession talks easier than theirs was.
This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to Interfax-Ukraine.
"In your accession negotiations (with the European Union - Ed.), as in the negotiation process of Latvia and other countries in due time, there will be enough difficulties and obstacles. Our goal is to reduce them and help you. Our ambition is to make your path to the negotiations easier than it was for us," Mierinā said.
She emphasised that in the post-war European security architecture, one of the most important elements of Ukraine's and Europe's security is Ukraine's membership in NATO.
"This is the only way to guarantee Ukraine's long-term security and significantly strengthen Europe's defence capabilities," the Latvian Saeima speaker said.
According to her, since the threat of Russian aggression will not end with Russia's defeat in Ukraine, and the agony of the collapse of the Russian empire can be destructive, bloody and last for a long time, a comprehensive approach to building European security is needed.
