"Servant of People" proposed to raise taxes on iPhones and on those who earn more than UAH 20 thousand.

Roksolana Pidlasa (Servant of the People), Head of the Rada Budget Committee, proposes to introduce a luxury tax, in particular on new iPhones.
Roksolana Pidlasa of the Servant of the People party, Head of the Parliamentary Committee on Budget, proposed to increase the military tax from 1.5% to 3% for "rich" Ukrainians earning more than UAH 20,000 (the average salary in Ukraine is UAH 17.9 thousand). In addition, the People's Deputy called for the introduction of a luxury tax, which, in her opinion, may include new iPhones. Pidlasa spoke about this during a telethon, Censor.NET reports with reference to Obozrevatel.
The discussion was about where Ukraine should get money for mobilization, and the deputy spoke about ideas that are currently being considered. Among other things, she proposed to introduce a progressive tax scale for the military fee.
"If you earn little, you shouldn't have to pay a big tax even now. And if you earn more than 20 thousand hryvnias, you could pay a military tax of 3% instead of 1.5%. People's deputies have higher salaries, we could pay 5%. It would be fair," Pidlasa said.
She also suggested that the new Apple smartphone is a luxury item, and therefore should also be subject to additional duties upon importation into Ukraine. Pidlasa would like to introduce the same rule for cars.
"We can also think about a luxury tax. Despite the war, we have a huge number of cars and expensive equipment entering the country. We see from customs statistics how many laptops and phones we import every month. If it is a new iPhone for UAH 60-70 thousand, it may be subject to additional duties," said the head of the Budget Committee.
She also clarified that in no case is it a question of "taxing phones for UAH 5 thousand".
