Latvian, Estonian and Lithuanian parliamentarians called to support Ukraine until its complete victory
The Presidium of the Baltic Assembly approved a statement of support for Ukraine until its complete victory.
"We demand immediate action by Europe to ensure Ukraine's complete victory in accordance with the peace formula put forward by it," said Janis Vukans, Vice President of the Baltic Assembly and head of the Latvian delegation, Censor.NET reports with reference to European Pravda.
In their statement, the members of the Latvian, Estonian and Lithuanian parliaments emphasize the importance of various forms of support - military, financial and political - to enable Ukraine to fully restore its territories. They state that this support should be continuous, sufficient, timely and forward-looking.
The Presidium of the Baltic Assembly calls on members of parliaments of other countries not to underestimate the long-term consequences for stability in Europe, the functioning of international systems and the development of all nations that value their freedom if Ukraine is not provided with adequate support in line with the seriousness of the current situation.
The parliamentarians reaffirm the unequivocal support of the Baltic States for Ukraine's integration into the EU and the Euro-Atlantic area.
The deputies also call on the international community to more actively implement the policy of sanctions against Russia and to seek legal ways to ensure that frozen Russian funds can be used to rebuild Ukraine.
The parliamentarians also recall that the mistakes of a decade ago, when Russia grossly violated international law and occupied Crimea, gave the aggressor a sense of impunity, which led to a full-scale war in Ukraine that has been causing enormous destruction and suffering to people for almost two years.
The Baltic Assembly is an institution of cooperation between the parliaments of Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania, which was established on November 8, 1991. Each Baltic parliament is represented in the Assembly by 12-16 members.
