Ukraine expects approval of EUR 50 billion support program from EU on February 1 – Shmyhal
Ukraine’s Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal says that Ukraine expects the EU to approve a new four-year, €50 billion support program, the Ukraine Facility, on February 1.

According to preliminary information from the Prime Minister, all 27 EU members have agreed to support this program.
"We expect that this year the EU will be able to provide financial assistance at about the level of 2023. To cover the Ukrainian budget deficit, it is important for us to attract about 18 billion euros from the European Union," he wrote.
In addition, according to the Prime Minister, the Administration of US President Joe Biden plans to provide $1.8 billion in budget support this year. Shmyhal expects the US Congress to make a positive decision on this issue in the near future.
The EU's €50 billion Ukraine Facility support program:
On February 1, a special meeting of the European Council will be held, during which EU leaders will decide on amendments to the EU's 2024-2027 multiannual budget. The European Commission's proposals include the creation of the so-called Ukraine Fund in the amount of 50 billion euros for the next four years, which will provide sustainable support for Ukraine now and in the future, during the country's post-war recovery.
Earlier, Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olha Stefanishyna said that the decision to provide €50 billion in financial assistance to Kyiv over the next four years would definitely be made.
