Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled Russian attacks in seven directions on January 26, repelled 28 attacks near Avdiivka – General Staff
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine released an update on the Russian invasion as of 6 p.m. on January 26, 2024.
According to Censor.NET, this was reported on the official Facebook page of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The evening report states: "The seven hundred and second day of the large-scale armed aggression of the Russian Federation against our country continues.
The Russian Federation continues to wage a war of aggression. Despite significant losses, it does not abandon its plans for the complete occupation of Ukraine. The enemy continues to ignore the laws and customs of war, uses terror tactics, conducts strikes, and attacks both military and civilian targets. The enemy is actively using aircraft and FPV quadcopters, conducting assault operations with the support of armored vehicles.
The operational situation in eastern and southern Ukraine remains difficult.
There were 94 combat engagements over the last day. The enemy launched 8 missile attacks (with S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles at civilian infrastructure in Myrnohrad, Novohradivka, Donetsk region, and Antonivka, Kherson region) and fired 38 multiple rocket launcher systems at Ukrainian troops' positions and populated areas. Unfortunately, Russian terrorist attacks have resulted in civilian casualties and injuries. Multi-storey and private houses, schools, kindergartens, a shopping center and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.
The situation in the Volyn and Polissia directions remained unchanged. There are no signs of the formation of offensive groups. Designated units of the Belarusian Armed Forces are performing tasks in the areas bordering Ukraine.
On the Siversk and Slobozhansk directions, the enemy maintains a military presence in the border areas, conducts sabotage and reconnaissance activities, shells settlements from the territory of the Russian Federation, and increases the density of minefields along the state border of Ukraine. More than 35 settlements were subjected to artillery and mortar shelling by the enemy, including Yeline, Halahanivka, Leonivka in the Chernihiv region; Popivka, Volfyne, Veselivka in the Sumy region; Veterynarne, Nesterne, Komisarove in the Kharkiv region.
In the Kupiansk direction, our defenders repelled 12 attacks near Tabaivka in the Kharkiv region, and Stelmakhivka in the Luhansk region, where the enemy tried to break through the defense of our troops. More than 10 localities came under artillery and mortar fire, including Dvorichna, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Ivanivka, and Berestove in Kharkiv region.
In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian troops repelled 7 attacks in the areas of Terniv and Torske in the Donetsk region, where the enemy tried to break through the defense of our troops. More than 10 settlements suffered from enemy artillery and mortar attacks, including Nevske, Bilohorivka, Serebrianskyi forestry in the Luhansk region and Torske, Serebrianka, Rozdolivka in the Donetsk region.
In the Bakhmut direction, the Defense Forces repelled 10 attacks near Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka and Andriivka in the Donetsk region, where the occupants were unsuccessfully trying to improve the tactical situation. About 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Vasiukivka, Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka, Andriivka, and New York in the Donetsk region.
In the Avdiivka direction, our defenders repelled 19 attacks near Novobakhmutivka, Stepove, Avdiivka and another 9 attacks near Opytne, Vodiane, Pervomaiske and Nevelske in the Donetsk region, where the enemy unsuccessfully tried to break through the defense of our troops. About 10 settlements came under enemy artillery and mortar fire, including Oleksandropil, Novobakhmutivka, Ocheretyne, Avdiivka, Pervomaiske, Netailove in Donetsk region.
In the Marinka direction, the Defense Forces continue to hold back the invaders near Heorhiivka, Pobieda and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region. The occupants tried unsuccessfully to improve the tactical situation here 14 times. Krasnohorivka, Marinka, Pobieda, Novomykhailivka, Katerynivka and Yelizavetivka came under artillery and mortar fire.
In the Shakhtarsk direction, our defenders repelled an enemy attack near Zolota Nyva in the Donetsk region. More than 10 settlements, including Vodiane, Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Zolota Nyva, Blahodatne, and Urozhainne in the Donetsk region, came under artillery and mortar fire.
In the Zaporizhzhia direction, Ukrainian troops repelled five enemy attacks north of Pryiutne, south of Chervone and west of Verbove in the Zaporizhzhia region. More than 15 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Charivne, Mali Shcherbaki, Stepove, Lobkove, Pyatikhatky, Stepnohirsk, Plavni in Zaporizhzhia region.
In the area of responsibility of the Odesa OSG in the Kherson direction, Kherson, Mykolaivka, Tiahynka, Novotiahynka, Antonivka in the Kherson region and Solonchaky in the Mykolaiv region were subjected to enemy artillery attacks. The enemy also fired from multiple rocket launchers near the settlements of Ivanivka, Tokarivka, Tomyna Balka in the Kherson region.
The enemy does not abandon its intention to drive our units out of their footholds on the left bank of the Dnipro River. Thus, during the day the enemy made 4 unsuccessful assaults on the positions of Ukrainian troops."
