Petty Officer Vasyl Yaremko "Yaryi", commander of the 2nd assault hundred of the Carpathian Sich battalion named after Oleh Kutsyn, died as a result of enemy shelling near the village of Makiivka, Luhansk region.

This was reported by Ruslan Andriyko on Facebook, Censor.NET reports.

"A great warrior who was loved and respected by every soldier will always be remembered. He resembles the Cossack colonel Maksym Kryvonos in appearance and military skills, and his absolute lack of fear. Only Yaryi and a group of Cossacks in modern warfare were able to quietly approach the occupiers' positions, destroy them, take them prisoner and return without loss of life," Andriy recalls.

The combat path of the fallen Hero:

  • defence of Vіrnopillia, Kharkiv region, April-September 2022,
  • The storming of Dmytrivka, Kharkiv region, June 2022,
  • The storming of Komyshuvakha and Topolske, Kharkiv region, September 2012,
  • clearing of Izyum, Kharkiv region, September 2012,
  • an assault on the northern flank of the Lyman operation, Donetsk region, September 2012,
  • liberation of Terny, Donetsk region, October 22nd,
  • Kreminna Offensive and defence of positions in the area of Terny, Donetsk region, October 2022-October 2023,
  • The battles for Makiivka.

"Have you ever seen a company man be the first to clear a landing, carry out demining or evacuate the wounded from the line of fire? Yaryi did it all the time. And when the infantry or mechs were afraid to drive through an unknown landing, Yaryi was the first to go on his trophy Tiger. He radiated unshakable confidence and fierce energy in the most difficult combat situations. All the Cossacks knew Yaryi to be a good friend.

Yaryi was far from army and Armed Forces bureaucracy, politicking, careerism and volunteerism, arrogance, cynicism, pettiness. Yaryi came to fight, an ideal warrior who went to hell hundreds of times personally, consciously, to destroy the occupiers and save his people," the author of the post adds.

"It seemed to everyone that this Cossack-character was immortal, conspired against, and untouched by bullets. But everything changed that fateful night... Yaryi gained eternal life in battle and eternal glory by repelling an enemy assault, saving his men on the line of fire. The modern world has never seen such heroism. Yaryi is an irreparable loss for the battalion, the army and the nation. I am honoured to have been in the same unit as Yaryi. Pray, remember, glorify - the man, the Cossack, the commander, the hero Yaryi," adds a fellow soldier of the deceased soldier.
