Umierov and Austin discussed needs of Defense Forces and situation with Congress
Defense Minister Rustem Umierov discussed the situation on the battlefield and the Ukrainian army’s urgent needs for weapons with his American counterpart Lloyd Austin.
This is stated in the Pentagon's official statement issued following the conversation on Friday, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrinform.
The parties discussed "Ukraine's needs for additional artillery, air defense, and other capabilities," the US Defense Department said.
In addition, the leaders emphasized the urgent need for the U.S. Congress to pass a bill with additional funding for U.S. national security needs that includes a large-scale package of support for Ukraine. This would enable Ukraine to continue its resistance to Russian aggression, the Pentagon said.
"Both leaders promised to maintain close contact," the US defense department said.
