Attacks on Russian oil refineries are a response to destruction of Ukraine’s energy system, - Zelenskyy
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called the attacks on oil refineries in Russia a response to Russian missile attacks on Ukraine’s energy system.
Zelenskyy said this in an interview with the Washington Post, Censor.NET reports.
Zelenskyy noted that he could only stop Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy grid by making Russia pay the same price. "If there is no air defence to protect our energy system, and the Russians are attacking it, my question is: why can't we respond to them? Their society has to learn to live without petrol, without diesel, without electricity... It's only fair."
"When Russia stops these steps, we will stop," he added.
According to the president, the US reaction to this "was not positive", but Washington could not limit Ukraine's use of its own domestic weapons. "We used our drones. No one can tell us that you cannot."
