Chernihiv: Head of Military Medical Commission deregistered evaders for $5,000 - SSU

In Chernihiv, the head of the military medical commission was caught taking bribes, as he was de-registering evaders.
This was reported by Censor.NET із citing the Telegram-channel of SSU.
According to the investigation, the head of the Chernihiv Military Medical Commission helped conscripts evade military service in return for a monetary reward.
The defendant was a participant in a criminal scheme organised by the former head of the Chernihiv Regional Military Medical Commission, who was documented by the SSU in February this year, the SSU said in a statement.
An accomplice of the bribery scheme was also detained, she was an official of the medical commission of the Chernihiv military commissariat.
"The defendants organised the issuance of false medical reports, which prescribed severe 'diagnoses' for recruits. Then these documents were sent to the military commissariat with a note: unfit for service due to "poor" health," the SSU said.
Investigators also found that such fraud enabled the evaders to travel abroad. The criminal group received $5,000 for each man they wrote off.
Based on the collected evidence, both suspects were served a notice of suspicion under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
P. 1 Art. 114-1 (obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces and other military formations);
3 of Article 332 (illegal transfer of persons across the state border of Ukraine).
The actions of the head of the MMC are additionally qualified under Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (acceptance of an offer, promise or receipt of an unlawful benefit by an official).
He is currently in custody.
