Russia will abandon "unilateral moratorium" on deployment of medium- and short-range strike weapons if Tomahawks are deployed in Germany, - Putin
In the event of the deployment of US Tomahawk missiles in Germany, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin threatens to abandon his "unilateral moratorium" on the deployment of medium- and short-range strike weapons.
According to Censor.NET, citing Yevropeiska Pravda, he made the statement in St. Petersburg on Sunday, July 28.
Putin said that if Tomahawks are deployed in Germany, "important Russian state and military administration facilities, our administrative and industrial centers and defense infrastructure will be in the area of their destruction."
"If the United States implements such plans, we will consider ourselves free of the previously undertaken unilateral moratorium on the deployment of medium- and shorter-range strike weapons, including the enhancement of the capabilities of the coastal forces of our Navy," he said.
In addition, the Russian dictator emphasized that Russia has almost completed the development of "a number of systems" of medium and short range, and Moscow "will take mirror measures for their deployment, taking into account the actions of the United States, its satellites in Europe and other regions of the world."
As reported earlier, the United States plans to deploy long-range weapons in Germany starting in 2026, including SM-6 anti-aircraft missiles, Tomahawk cruise missiles, and hypersonic weapons.
